A bibliometric analysis of STEM studies on gifted individuals

In this study, 105 articles in English on STEM practices with gifted individuals published between January 1, 2001 and February 18, 2023 in the Web of Science were collected and analyzed through a bibliometric analysis. The dataset is comprised of 58 journals with 231 authors, twenty-seven of whom are single authors. Citation counts of the journals and the number of years the journals have been publishing were evaluated. In addition, the impact of the journal bibliographies was examined. It was found that the most productive years for the number of publications are 2018 and 2019. The relationship amongst articles, authors, and key words was identified using three field graphic. Word cloud analysis showed that "STEM", "gifted", "science", "gifted education", "creativity" "mathematics", "education", "development", "enrichment" came out as central prominent concepts. Roeper Review-A Journal on Gifted Education and Journal For The Education of The Gifted' were found to be the most impactful journals. Lubınskı, D. and Maker, C.J. are the most productive authors,and the University of Arizona and the University of North Texas are the leading institutions in the field. It was found that the United States of America is the most collaborative and contributing country to the field. This study aimed at being a guide for researchers and practitioners by depicting the studies on STEM practices conducted with gifted individuals from different perspectives.
