Özet (EN)
In this study, the relationship between the subjective well-being and perfectionism of gifted children was examined. The study group consisted of 140 gifted students, 66 girls and 74 boys, who attended Çukurova Science and Art Center in Adana in the 2020- 2021 academic year. The data were obtained by using the "Personal Information Form", "EPOCH Subjective Well-Being Scale", "Child Life Satisfaction Scale" (SWLS-C), "Child and Adolescent Perfectionism Scale" (CAPS). IBM SPSS 26.0 package program was used in the analysis of the data. In our study, no relationship was found between the variables of gender, age groups, family income, working status of parents and scale scores (p>.05). The increase in socially prescribed perfectionism (SPP) was associated with a decrease in course grades (r=-.20; p<.05). Subjective well-being levels of students whose mother and father education level are secondary, high school and university were found to be higher than students whose parents were at primary school and below (p<.05). Increase in self-oriented perfectionism (SOP); It has been shown to be associated with an increase in engagement (r=.32; p<.01), perseverance (r=.44; p<.01), optimism (r=.22; p<.01), connectedness (r=.27; p<.01), happiness (r=.23; p<.01) sub- dimensions, and an increase in total score of subjective well-being (r=.37; p<.01). A significant positive correlation was found between SPP and the connectedness sub- dimension of subjective well-being (r=.24; p<.01). It was determined that SOP showed a significant positive correlation with life satisfaction (r=.17; p<.05). It was found that gender, parents' education level, life satisfaction and SOP predicted subjective well- being [F(6,133)=13.72; p<0.001]. Life satisfaction and SOP can explain 38% of the change in subjective well-being. As a result, it was seen that the findings obtained in this study supported the main hypotheses obtained in line with the purpose of the study. It was found that perfectionism characteristics were associated with subjective well- being and life satisfaction in gifted students, and differences specific to the perfectionism sub-dimension were observed in this relationship.
