Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine gifted students' attitudes toward the Turkish course in terms of various demographic and academic variables. The main research problem focuses on the relationship between students' attitudes toward Turkish and factors such as gender, age, grade level, parental education status, family income level, reading frequency, and BİLSEM enrollment field. The research was designed as a descriptive and correlational survey study in accordance with quantitative research methods. The sample consisted of 100 gifted students attending Yozgat Fatma Temel Turhan BİLSEM during the 2024-2025 academic year. Data were collected using the Turkish Course Attitude Scale (27 items) developed by Ünal and Köse (2014) and a personal information form prepared by the researcher. Parametric test techniques including independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation analysis were employed for data analysis.Findings revealed that students' attitude scores toward Turkish course were generally positive (M=4.12, SD=.68). Female students showed significantly higher attitude scores than males (t(98)=2.45, p<.05). Students whose mothers had bachelor's degrees or higher education demonstrated higher attitude scores (F(3,96)=3.12, p<.05), while no significant effects were found for age, grade level, father's education, family income, or BİLSEM enrollment field. A significant positive correlation was observed between reading frequency and positive attitudes toward Turkish (r=.56, p<.01). These results suggest that gifted students' attitudes toward Turkish are influenced by certain demographic and academic factors. The study recommends developing special education programs to improve attitudes, particularly for male students and those with low reading frequency. The findings contribute to establishing attitude development strategies for Turkish courses in gifted education. Keywords: Academic Attitude, BİLSEM, Gifted Students, Turkish Education.
