Abstract (EN)

Cities have been exposed to rapid changes due to economic, social and technological developments. The responses of each city to these changes, developments and transformations have been at different levels. Urban development processes, which started in an unplanned and uncontrolled manner, have negative consequences. By analyzing the dynamics of urban change and transformation, it can be predicted how cities will expand in the future. Various computer software and scientific studies are put forward by designers as a tool especially in the design process and in analyzing the design. In the world and in our country, the studies carried out in the digital environment on the building scale and in the urban scale are spreading day by day to form the basis for the planned growth of urban patterns. Bursa, which was one of the important trade and production centers between the 15th and 17th centuries, displayed a very stable appearance from the beginning of the 17th century to the middle of the 19th century. Since the middle of the 19th century, Bursa has experienced a social, economic and physical change process, not with its own internal dynamics, but rather with effects such as immigration and unplanned growth. This change continues today, reflecting the typical dynamics of developing countries. In this study, it is aimed to create urban sprawl prediction models in the preliminary design phase in Bursa. The Hanlar District, which is the core of Bursa's original urban pattern, is taken as a source for the models. In this context, various numerical data and a shape library were obtained by examining the urban pattern of the Hanlar District with space syntactic and shape grammar analyzes. Architectural patterns were obtained by processing these data with genetic algorithms, which is one of the generative design tools in architecture in digital environment. The adaptation or differentiaton between the generated patterns and the original one is discussed by comparing the space syntactic and fractal dimension analysis data. The models generated within the scope of the study are important in terms of directing the design.
