11 THE SPEED CONTROL OF THREE PHASE INDUCTION MOTORS BY USING PULSE WIDTH MODULATION METHOD (M.Sc. Thesis) Salih GÖRGÜNO?LU GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY February 2000 ABSTRACT The induction motors are the most popüler machines in industry. When they are compared with DC motors, inductions motors are more efficient, smaller, lighter, have less inertia and can be run higher speeds. However, Its speed control is more difficult. In this study, a speed control device of three phase induction motor is designed and implemented by using Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation control method. This rather effective to reduce the loss of induction motors. Science code : 225.10.01 Key words : Induction Motors, Pulse width Modulation(PWM), Speed Control Page Number :124 Adviser : Assoc.
