The validity and reliability of palliative care nursing self-competence scale

Aim: To exemine the validity and reliability of the Palliative Care Nursing Self-Efficacy Scale by adapting it to Turkish. Method: This methodological study consisted of 261 nurses reached between April and May 2024 using the snowball technique. The data collected wieh Participant Information Form and Palliative Care Nursing Self-Efficacy Scale. The data analyzed with SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences for Windows) 25.0 and AMOS 21 software. In the validity and reliability study of the Palliative Care Nursing Self-Efficacy Scale, content validity, face validity, construct validity, convergent and divergent validity, scale response bias, internal consistency, confirmatory factor analysis, item discrimination power index, relationship between sub-dimensions and items, descriptive statistics and test-retest technique. Results: The Content Validity Index value of the Palliative Care Nursing Self-Efficacy Scale was 0.96, and in the results of the first level confirmatory factor analysis, the RMSEA of 50 items and 10 sub-dimensional structures was 0.042; It was found to have an excellent fit with χ2 (Cmin/df) of 1.468 and a Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.96. Conclusion: The Turkish Palliative Care Nursing Self-Efficacy Scale serves as a valuable instrument for assessing the self-efficacy levels of palliative care nurses.
