Özet (EN)

In this study, that the turning of stalks and bolls of the cotton plant, widely grown in Turkey and especially in Southeastern Anatolia, into briquettes is aimed to evaluate. It has been appeared in the study that 1x105 tons / year of cotton and cotton gin wastes occur in Southeastern Anatolia region. The annual energy potential of there wastes is determined as 1591 GJ. After harvested from the field, cotton stalks were streamlined to making briquettes by subjected to shredding, thinning, grinding and drying process. Domestic animal fat wastes were used as bonding material. Briquetting process was carried out under cold press by mixed cotton stalks with animal suet in various (0-25) percentages. Elemental analysis of cotton stalks and animal suet were made. For briquetting operation, the minimum required pressure was determined as 90Mpa. Briquettes thermal values was found to be in the range (3847-5295) cal/gr. Exhaust gas emissions were measured by burning the obtained briquettes. It has been found that the exhaust gas emissions of the briquettes with (0-15) animal suet ratio are below the limit values.
