Teleworking during the pandemic and work life balance: A study on banking sector

As a type of work arrangement telework that is rapid technological developments enabled, has became a method by many sectors due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Telework, which is implemented to prevent and stop the spread of the epidemic, in these days when we are in a global health crisis, affects the lives of employees in many ways. This study aimed to measure the work-life balance level of emplyees who worked as a teleworker in the pandemic and to explore the variables that affect the work-life balance. The research was conducted on the bankers in Istanbul, by using the survey method, one of the qualitative research methods. The sample of the study consists of 245 teleworkers on banking sector in Istanbul selected randomly. The scale used, consists of questions aiming to expose the work-family and family-work conflicts. In this study SPSS 21.0 program was used to analyze the data. Also, Levene's Test, Independent Sample t-Test, One-Way Analysis of Variance, Mann Whitney-U Test, Kruskal Wallis-H test were used to find out whether the participants' levels of work life balance dependency levels changed according to their demographic characteristics. The findings showed that; participants are undecided according to the participants' work-life balance average score. Participants' levels of family-life balance changed significantly according to gender, marital status end number of children variables. However, it was found that the levels of work life balance didn't change significantly according to age and housekeeping variables. Finally, participants' work life balance levels changed significantly according to separate workstation variable, on behalf of the ones who has separate workstation.
