Evaluation of post traumatic stress disorder and post traumatic growth of nurses' working in pandemic hospital

The research was carried out in a descriptive and cross-sectional type in order to evaluate post-traumatic stress disorder and post-traumatic growth in nurses working in a pandemic hospital. The research was carried out with 303 nurses included in the sample, working in a city hospital that was converted into a pandemic hospital between April and June 2021. The data of the research were obtained by using the "Nurse Introduction Form", "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist (PTSDCL)" and "Post Traumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI)". Research data, reliability was evaluated with Cronbach Alpha analysis, descriptive statistics, Chi-Square Analysis, Independent groups t test, ANOVA Analysis of Variance and Pearson Correlation Analysis. In the research, the level of significance was taken as p<0.05. In the study, it was determined that the nurses working in the pandemic hospital were 33.18 years old on average, 69% were female, and 74.6% had a bachelor's degree. In the study, it was determined that 41.3% of the nurses worked for more than 10 years in the profession, and 80.5% of them worked 41 hours or more per week. In the study, it was determined that 31.7% of the nurses had the thought of quitting the profession during the pandemic process, 82.2% of them thought that they had a biopsychosocial change during the pandemic process, and 82.5% of them did not receive sufficient material, moral and social support during the pandemic process. In the study, it was determined that the nurses scored an average of 46.02±16.6 points in PTSDCL and 51.5% of them had post-traumatic (pandemic) stress disorder. In the study, it was determined that the nurses got an average of 44.67±18.19 points from the PTGI and they experienced a low level of development after the traumatic experience. As a result; in the study, it was determined that more than half of the nurses working in the pandemic hospital had post-traumatic (pandemic) stress disorder and experienced a low level of development after the traumatic experience. It was determined that there was no significant relationship between post-traumatic stress disorder and posttraumatic development in nurses. 2022, xi + 96 pages.
