The effect of high school students' self-efficacy perceptions towards online technologies and digital literacy levels on academic achievement during the pandemic process

This research was carried out to examine the effects of online technology self-efficacy perceptions and digital literacy levels on academic achievement of distance education students during the Covid-19 pandemic. Survey method was used in the research. The sample of the research consists of 983 high school students studying in Etimesgut District of Ankara in the 2020-2021 academic year. "Self-Efficacy Scale for Online Technologies" and "Digital Literacy Evaluation Scale" were used to collect data. In the analysis of the data, statistical methods of percentage, frequency, arithmetic mean, one-way analysis of variance and t-test for independent samples were applied. According to the results of the research, it was seen that high school students' self-efficacy perceptions and digital literacy levels towards online technologies were high. While students' self-efficacy perceptions towards online technologies differ significantly according to gender, school type and family income, they do not show a significant difference according to grade level. Students' digital literacy levels show a significant difference according to gender, grade level, school type and family income. It has been observed that as students' self-efficacy perceptions and digital literacy levels towards online technologies increase, their academic success also increases. There are significant differences in self-efficacy perceptions and digital literacy levels towards online technologies between students with high academic achievement and students with low academic achievement.
