Teachers' perspectives and vision for the future against distance education and blended learning in the pandemic process

Abstract (EN)

During the Covid-19 epidemic, multi-faceted restrictions were made in human life by declaring a worldwide pandemic It has been educational institutions that most affected from these restrictions. In order to prevent the rapid spread of the epidemic and to minimize the risk of transmission, it was decided to conduct the education in online environments by suspending face-to-face education in schools for a certain period of time. Continuity in education is aimed with the use of blended learning environment and online learning environment, which is an approach in the education-teaching process. During the pandemic period, the biggest role in the field of education has been given to teachers. In the literature review, it was determined that no study was found in which teachers' views on the blended learning environment and online learning environment they used during the pandemic process were discussed. For this reason, teachers' views on online learning and blended learning approach that they have to use during the pandemic process were examined in depth. The case study design, which is one of the qualitative research designs, was used. In order to find answers to the research questions, a semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher was used. The sample of the study consists of 18 teachers working in Amasya in the 2021-2022 academic year. The interviews with the teachers were made by recording face-to-face audio recordings or by creating an interview environment through the online conference program via internet, according to the conditions of the pandemic period. The answers to the semi-structured interview questions were analyzed using the NVivo program. According to the results of the analysis made within the scope of the research, 11 themes appeared that could answer the research questions. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that the online learning environment provided an advantage in the personal development of the teachers during the pandemic process, according to 55% of the teachers, and in the continuity of the education process according to 27%. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that the blended learning approach provided continuity in education to the teachers with during the pandemic process according to 27% of the teachers, and that the communication of the teachers with the students was effective according to 22%. However, according to the results of the analysis, it was concluded that this process forced the teachers who used the blended learning approach and online learning environment during the pandemic process, according to 44% of the teachers. It is thought that the result of the research will contribute to the training, research and literature that teachers can receive for their professional and personal development in case they encounter extraordinary situations
