Özet (EN)

Recently, the studies regarding ghrelin to examine the pathophysiology ofvarious psychiatric disorders have been focused. It is unknown the importance of thelipid profils and ghrelin in the panic disorder (PD). In the present study, the values ofserum ghrelin, triglyceride, cholesterol, and subtypes and its relationships with clinicalvariables in PD subtypes were evaluated. The study comprised 32 panic disordered patients who had applied to FiratUniversity Firat Medical Center Department of Psychiatry as out- or in- patients andhad been diagnosed with panic disorder according to the criteria of DSM-IV and 12healthy controls. The patients were administered the sociodemographical data form,Hamilton Depression Rating Scale and Panic Agoraphobia Rating Scale. In the patientsand controls who were met the study criteria, serum ghrelin, triglyceride, cholesterole, and subtypes levels were obtained. There are significant differences between VLDL-C, LDL-C, TG, totalcholesterol; ghrelin levels in the PD with agoraphobia or without agoraphobia comparedto controls but not HDL-C levels. These significant differences continued in thesubtypes of the PD with agoraphobia and without agoraphobia. Conclusions: There may be a pathophysiological association between ghrelinand total lipid profiles which they have already an interaction between each other in PDpatients. These relationships which are particularly discussed in both discussion and thefindings sections are more clear in the PD with agoraphobia than without agoraphobia. We consider that this distinction include neurobiological discriminations beyondclinical features. But it?s necessary too much studies in this subject. In addition to them;we should emphasize when we follow up patients with PD it should be considered thisgroup under the risk in regard to cardiovascular.Key words: Panic disorder with agoraphobia, panic disorder withoutagoraphobia, ghrelin, cholesterole, trigliceride
