The Harp Department of Paris Conservatory and analysis of Gabriel Fauré's Impromptu Op.86 No.6

Since its establishment, the Paris Conservatory has not only trained the best artists of Europe but also brought these artist in the art world. The Harp Division of Paris Conservatory, where many harpists and pedagogues have been trained, is an exemplary institution to other conservatory and harp schools. Drawing on the emergence of the French Harp School in the 19th Century, this thesis investigates the following subjects: the form analysis of one of his renown pieces called Impromptu Op. 86. In this study; the life of Gabriel Fauré, who had brought impressionism and contemporary music to the Paris Conservatory in the years he had served as director, the analysis of Fauré's Impromptu Op.86 for the solo harp which composed for the concour of the Paris Conservatoire in 1904 and the differences between Impromptu Op.86 bis, which was adapted to the piano was presented. Through the combination of Gabriel Fauré's musical, lyrical approach and technical dominance and the pleasant tone of the harp instrument, the Impromptu Op.86 still retains its musical value.
