Abstract (EN)
Throughout the history, women have achieved many of the rights they have today through significant struggles. One of these rights is the right to vote and be elected. In order to obtain their political rights, women engaged in various organizational efforts since the enactment of the Associations Law, attempting to make their voices heard. This process continued until the Republican Era, when women finally gained the right to vote and be elected, marking their entrance into the political arena. However, despite women obtaining the right to vote and be elected, the issue of gender inequality in politics unfortunately remains unresolved. From the 1930s to the present day, we observe that the number of female parliamentarians remains significantly lower than their male counterparts, and the role of women in politics continues to be evaluated in light of efforts to address this issue. Starting from 1946, this study compiles information on all women parliamentarians who have served in the parliamentary system, focusing on their roles and responsibilities, as well as their legal, social, and parliamentary duties. This study specifically examines the roles and responsibilities of women parliamentarians, the legal regulations that facilitated their participation in parliament, and the impact of these regulations on the social position of women. Additionally, it gathers information on how female parliamentarians fulfilled their duties regarding the gathering of information and delivering judgments in general events during the past thirty-two years of Turkey's history.
