Investigation of interpersonal conflict resolution skills of political party youth branch members in terms of psychological resilience and self-understanding

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between interpersonal conflict resolution skills and resilience and self-compassion in the members of the party youth branches. A total of 397 individuals, including 190 women and 207 men, who are members of the youth branches of different political parties, participated in the study in 2020. In the data collection process of the research, 'Personal Information Form', 'Interpersonal Conflict Resolution Approach Scale', 'The Brief Resilience Scale' and 'Self-Compassion Scale' were used. In the analysis process of the data obtained, Independent T Test, One Way ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Analysis and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis were used in SPSS 22.0 program. At the end of the study, it was found that the strategies that was used by the members of the party youth branches in the process of interpersonal conflicts resolution showed a significant difference according to the variables of gender, age group, duration of being a member of the party, settlement in childhood and education level (p<0.05). On the contrary, it was determined that the interpersonal conflict resolution strategies of the members did not show a significant difference according to their marital status (p>0.05). When the relationships between the dependent variables are examined, it has been determined that there is a significant relationship between the level of self -compassion and resilience of the members of the party youth branches and the participants' interpersonal conflict resolution strategies (p<0.05), and the level of self-compassion in the process of interpersonal conflict resolution has a greater effect compared to the resilience level. In addition, it has been determined that the higher the level of self-compassion of the members of the party youth branches, the more they use the strategy of confrontation and self-disclosure in the process of interpersonal conflicts resolution. As a result, it can be said that demographic variables are important determinants on interpersonal conflict resolution strategies in the members of political party youth branches, and in addition, there are significant relationships between interpersonal conflict resolution strategies and self-compassion and resilience.
