Abstract (EN)

The aim of the research is to reveal the effect of paternalistic leadership perception on employees in Turkey. For this reason, the data was obtained from a survey of 349 people working in Turkey. The questionnaire used includes two scales and questions prepared to understand and determine the demographic structure of the sample. In the study, correlation analysis was performed to determine the relationship between the sub-dimensions of paternalistic leadership and performance, and hierarchical regression analysis was performed for understanding the effect of paternalistic leadership on performance. Confirmatory factor analysis was used for the scales. The analysis showed that among the independent variables, while "the expectation of loyalty and obedience" was found effective on employee performance, the other two paternalistic leadership approaches which are "family environment at work" and "participation in non-work life" were statistically insignificant ones. It has been determined that the paternalistic leader's expectation of loyalty and obedience to employee performance differs significantly according to the gender of the employee. It has been determined that the paternalistic leader's expectation of loyalty and obedience has a higher effect, especially on male employee performance compared to female employees.
