Abstract (EN)
During the past decade, numerous clinical studies have done in women with pregnancy pathogenesis, but their etiology are still abscure. Most of recent work are recorded that there are a link between appropriate leptin, zinc level and following gestational disorders: Gestational diabetes (GD), mild pre-eclampsia (MP), severe pre-eclampsia (SP), intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and macrosomic fetus (MF). Therefore, the aim of the present work was to determine whether maternal serum leptin, zinc and new born umbilical venous-arterial serum leptin and zinc concentration were associated with a complicated pregnancy and women who had an uncomplicated pregnancy. Blood samples were obtained 200 women at delivery, identified as having a complicated and unacomplicated pregnancy. Umbilical venous and arterial blood samples were taken from their newborns. Leptin and Zn levels were determined by using ELISA and AO, respectively. Patients with GD, MP, SP, IUGR, MF showed significantly increased leptin while zinc levels of GD, MP, SP, IUGR were significantly lower than in controls. In MF cases zinc was slightly higher than in controls. Newborns of GD, MP, SP, MF of umblical venous-arterial showed significantly increased leptin than in controls. In IUGR cases umblical venous-arterial leptin level was significantly lower than in controls. Newborns of GD, MP, SP, IUGR of umblical venous-arterial showed significantly decreased zinc than in controls. In MF cases umblical venous-arterial zinc level was slightly lower than in controls. Our findings suggested that concentrations of leptin and zinc can accompany GD, MP, SP, IUGR, and MF possibly contribute to the pathogenesis.Key words: Leptin, zinc, pathological pregnancies
