Language, ethics and politics in Paul Ricoeur

In this study, the relations between Paul Ricoeur's views on language, ethics and politics are discussed. In this context, a systematization has been made within the framework of the concepts of language, ethics and politics discussed in Ricoeur's philosophy. In the first part of the study, it has been tried to show how language and the political are related in the process from Ancient Greece to the 20th century and the philosophers who influenced Ricoeur's language analysis are included. Thus, it has been tried to show where Paul Ricoeur stands in language discussions. In the second part of the study, Ricoeur's distinctions and conceptualizations about language analysis are discussed. From this point of view, it has been tried to show the connections of human actions and speech act theory in associating language and ethics. In the third chapter, the background of Ricoeur's theory of justice is discussed by considering the concepts of narrative and ethics. In the last part of the study, it has been tried to show the relationship between Paul Ricoeur's theory of justice and the idea of just institutions, by mentioning that the ethical relationship between "self" and "other" can be handled in a center of responsibility ethics. In the last part of the study, it is mentioned that the ethical relationship between Paul Ricoeur's "self" and "other" can be handled in an ethics of responsibility center. It has been tried to show its relationship with the theory of justice and the idea of just institutions. The importance of a critical perspective in the face of a language, narrative or discourse that can be constructive as well as destructive in the construction of a political order has been tried to be understood within the philosophy of Ricoeur.
