Abstract (EN)
After 1989, planned economies have begun the process of transition from communism to capitalism. The abandonment of the socialist system has resulted in several political, economic and social factors that, in their turn, directly affected the life of the people. The transition process has created an open social crisis characterized by an impoverishment of the population. The transition has brought not only unusual material deprivation, but also the destruction of normal life and social rituals. In that manner, the transition poverty deserves a particular attention. This work aims to analyze poverty and inequality in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe during the transition. In this context, transition data of Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria and Serbia have been analyzed.
