Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effects of watermelon juice and watermelon juice obtained from watermelons out of the market in meat quail feeds as a nutrient source in animals. Also, the possibilities of using the produced watermelon juice and prunes as pellet adhesives were investigated. In this study, raw feedstuffs used were prepared as initial and amplification quail rations according to NRC standards. This rationale is called the control group. Experimental groups were formed by adding 5% canned watermelon roots and watermelon juice to the dry matter instead of the feed raw materials used in the control group in the control group rationing to be isocaloric and isonitrogenic. The experimental groups were named as mashed group, which is added with puree and juicy group which is added with watermelon juice. The experimental group consisted of 3 main groups and 5 subgroups.In the experiment, a total of 90 male one-week-old Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) were used. The quails are grouped into the sub group of 6 animals each. The groups were distributed homogeneously in the cages. While the live weights of the quails were similar to those of the quails at the start of the experiment, the test result reached the highest value in the puree group with 189 grams of live weight. In addition, as a result of the research, utilization of feed was highest in the group of watermelon roots at 2,46 gr, and in watermelon and control group at 3,53 gr and 3,58 gr, respectively. While daily live weight gain reaches its highest level with 3.68 gr in wain watermelon puree in watermelon juice and control group with 3.44 gr and 3.43 gr. Feed consumption was 7.79 gr in the watermelon group whereas 8.97 gr and 10.42 g in the watermelon group and control group. While feed utilization was highest in watermelon puree group with 2,46, it is observed in watermelon juice group and control group with 3.53 gr and 3.58 gr, respectively, while it was highest in watermelon group with 2.46 gr. There was no significant difference in nutrient digestibility and mortality rates. As a result, canned watermelon roots can be considered as an alternative winged bait because both the cannabis production and the cannabis process are small and the whole of the waste water canal is contained and the weight of the watermelon is close to the control group despite the low feed consumption.
