Abstract (EN)

In this study; Pazarcık (Kahramanmaraş) and Solhan (Bingöl) magmatic rocks; physical, mechanical, and chemical properties and the possibility of use as railway ballast was investigated. Scope of work; The volcanic rocks in the Solhan (Bingöl) and Pazarcık (Kahramanmaraş) are used. Rock specimens were taken for the experiments in the mentioned regions. Both petrographic, mineralogical (XRD) and chemical (XRF) properties of sample groups were determined; It has been determined that Pazarcık (Kahramanmaraş) magmatics are quartz-feldspar and dark minerals with quartzless or slightly basalt, Solhan (Bingöl) magmatics are quartz - feldspathic with dark mineral dacite. It was determined that the samples taken from Pazarcık (Kahramanmaraş) belong to the Middle Upper Miocene Yavuzeli Formation and those taken from Solhan (Bingöl) belong to the Upper Miocene Solhan Formation. In the XRF analyzes, it was found that the SiO2 secondary component of the two groups of rock samples were CaO and that in the XRD tests; It was determined that albite, hematite, microklin, sanidin and quartz minerals of the Pazarcık (Kahramanmaraş) rock sample and albite, quartz, microklin and anorthoclase minerals of the Solhan (Bingöl) rock sample were formed. Physical properties (Unit volume weight, Porosity, Hardness test, Weight and Volume water absorption) of rock samples were determined mechanically (Los angelas abrasion resistance, MgSO4 frost loss determination, Indirect tensile strength, Uniaxial compressive strength) and physical properties. Experimental studies have shown that both the Pazarcık (Kahramanmaraş) and the Solhan (Bingöl) magmatic rocks can be used as railroad ballast.
