Abstract (EN)
Sari, D., The Turkish Validity and Reliability Study of the Pediatric Chemotherapy-Induced Neuropathy Survey, Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences, Pediatric Nursing Master's Degree Program, Master's Thesis, Ankara, 2024. The aim of this study was to assess the validity and reliability of the "Pediatric Chemoterapy Induced Neuropaty Scale (P-CIN)" developed to evaluate chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy with a patient-centered approach in children who have received or are currently receiving neurotoxic chemotherapy and to adapt it to Turkish population. The methodologically planned study was completed with the participation of 90 patients between the ages of 8-18 years who had received or were receiving neurotoxic chemotherapy between June 2023 and April 2024 in the inpatient and outpatient clinics of Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pediatric Oncology and Pediatric Hematology Unit. "Individual Introduction Form", "Pediatric Chemotherapy-Induced Neuropathy Scale" and "Total Neuropathy Scale Adapted for Children" were used as data collection tools. Language, content and construct validity methods were used to test the scale's validity. The scale's reliability was evaluated by internal consistency analysis, parallel tests method and test-retest method. For content validity, content validity ratios were calculated for all items and the values were found to be within the acceptable range. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted for construct validity. The fit values calculated by confirmatory factor analysis were found to be within acceptable limits. According to the internal consistency analysis results, Cronbach's alpha value of the scale was found to be 0.69. Its correlation with the parallel test was found to be strong (r=0.824) and its temporal invariance was revealed by test-retest (p<0.05). The Pediatric Chemotherapy-Induced Neuropathy Scale, which was adapted into Turkish, was found to be a valid and reliable measurement tool for evaluating peripheral neuropathy in pediatric patients with cancer aged 8-18 years.
