Pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum open surgery and minimal invazive surgical approach our clinics results

In this study, we retrospectively reviewed the patients who were operated for pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum deformities with modifiying Ravitch and Nuss methods. The medical records of 62 patients (8 females, 54 males; mean age 17, range 5 to 33) reviewed. 24,19% of patients (15 patients) had pectus carinatum deformities and 75,81% of patients (47 patients) had pectus excavatum deformities. 46,8% (22 patient) of patients with pectus excavatum operated with modifiying Ravitch methods, 53,2% (25 patients) of patients with pectus excavatum operated with Nuss methods. All of the pectus carinatum patients operated with modifying Ravitch method. We evaluated patients with pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum about age, sex range, complaining range, operating method range, postoperative stay range, postoperative pain, recurrent range, early and late complication range. Pubmed was scanned on articles and guidelines which were about pectus deformities, they compromised with our results. In our research, postoperative stay of the patients who operated with MR method were found more than the other group. This was statistically significant. Postoperative pain was meaningful on patients which were operated with Nuss methods. There was no significant difference about recurrence between MR and N methods. Also there was no meaningful difference about recurrence between different age groups.
