Developments within retailing and tendencies of consumers prefering shopping centers

ABSTRACT The increasing share of Shopping Centers both as quantity and as volume within Retailing Sector shows an augmentation of incline in consumer preferences towards these stores in recent years in Turkey similar to the rest of the world. Big European companies are planning and implementing various investment projects in Turkey which is in the midst of the integration process to the European Community. Turkey, despite some negative factors such as its unstable economy, low average purchasing power, multiple social and political problems is still an attractive investment spot for big scale European companies due to its crowded population which is much younger than the means in Europe, the increase in its urban population and the increasing level of education and culture of the society In this thesis study; the historical evolution in the retail industry, the present situation of the sector and within this present, the place of the Shopping Centers as one of the rising new forms of the trade are researched both in Turkey and the world in general. To find out the factors which effect the incline of consumer preferences towards Shopping Centers, and clarify these tendencies are much important for Marketing Science in order to help companies in developing their visions for their planning and investment projects as well as discovering the cues of the future of the industry and its consumer profile. With the consumer enquiries used in this study and their analysis.the present situation of the Shopping Centers in Turkish Retail Sector and their customer profiles are tried to be found out in the specific of izmir province. vn
