Abstract (EN)

The starting point of this work is the correlation between ?modernity? and ?religion.? In the light of contemporary researches made on the subject, we tried to seize the scene in Turkey through an analysis on the daily newspaper Zaman. Occupying a ?unique? place in the realm of mass communication in Turkey, Zaman is worth of studying. This work analyses the articles of the two of its columnists, Ali Bulaç and Hüseyin Gülerce for a period of 7 years; more precisely between the years 2000-2007. They have to deal with a dilemma: On the one hand, refusing mdoernity would mean to be isolated and fallen behind particularly in today?s globalized world; on the other hand receiving all that modernity has got to offer would mean losing part of their identity. Within this dilemma that were born intellectuals efforts to find new formulas of ?coexistance? between modernity and religion. The analysis of their articles reveals that the search for models of coexistance between modernity and Islam has not come to an end.
