Abstract (EN)

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between TREM-1, MMP-8 and TIMP-1 levels in peri-implant crevicular fluid (PIOS) in peri-implantitis patients. The second aim of the study was to evaluate the correlation of relevant markers with clinical periodontal parameters. Materials and Methods: A total of 54 patients (26 peri-implantitis, 28 peri-implant healthy) were included in the study. Peri-implant crevicular fluid was taken from the patients who met the study criteria, after the measurement of clinical periodontal parameters, peri-implant crevicular fluid were collected. TREM-1, MMP-8 and TIMP-1 levels were determined by ELISA method. Clinical and biochemical parameters were evaluated with nonparametric methods. Results: There was no significant difference between TREM-1 (p=0.568) and MMP-8 (p=0.945) between peri-implant healthy and peri-implantitis patients. TIMP-1 (p=0.000) levels were statistically significantly lower in the peri-implantitis patient group than in peri-implant healthy patients. MMP-8/TIMP-1 ratio was found to be higher in the peri-implantitis patient group (p=0.000). There were positive correlation between biomarkers (MMP-8 vs. TIMP-1 (p=0.040) and MMP-8 vs. MMP-8/TIMP-1 (p=0.024)). Moreover, there was a negative correlation between TIMP-1 and MMP-8/TIMP-1 (p=0.001). TIMP-1 is negative correlation between plaque index. Conclusion: Regarding the limits of this study, it can be said that the TREM-1, MMP-8 and TIMP-1 could have limited impact as predictors of peri-implant diseases. Longitudinal studies are required to assess their use, to monitor the impact of the peri-implantitis.
