The effect of proprioceptive vestibular rehabilitation on balance, functional mobility, posture, sensory profile and quality of life in patients with vertigo due to peripheral vestibular hypofunction

Daha sonra dolAim: This study was planned to examine the effect of proprioceptive vestibular rehabilitation on balance, functional mobility, posture, sensory profile and quality of life in patients with vertigo due to peripheral vestibular hypofunction. Material and Method: Patients aged 18-65 years with vertigo due to peripheral vestibular hypofunction were assigned to 3 groups with a computerized randomization program. Proprioceptive vestibular rehabilitation exercises combined with standard vestibular rehabilitation exercises for the 1st group; 2. Group was given standard vestibular rehabilitation exercises; Group 3 was determined as the control. The exercises were performed with a physiotherapist 4 days a week for 8 weeks and home exercises were given every day. Following the demographic information of the patients, Tinetti Balance and Gait Test for balance evaluation; Timed Up and Go Test for functional mobility; posturezone application for posture; Adolescent Adult Sensory Profile for sensory profile and quality of life were assessed using the Dizziness Disability Inventory. Results: According to the evaluations made at the end of the study, although there was a significant difference in balance, functional mobility and quality of life results in all groups (p<0.05), the difference between the groups was generally in favor of the 1st group (p<0.05). There was a significant difference between the groups in the results of posture analysis (p<0.05); While there was a significant difference in the measurements of the 1st group before and after the treatment (p<0.05), there was no significant difference in the 2nd and 3rd groups (p>0.05). There was a significant difference between the groups in sensory sensitivity, sensory avoidance, and low enrollment results (p<0.05); While there was a significant difference in the 1st and 2nd groups within the group, it was not in the 3rd group (p>0.05). While there was no significant difference between the groups in sensory seeking results (p>0.05), there was a significant difference within the group (p<0.05). Conclusion: It can be said that proprioceptive vestibular rehabilitation is an effective method in the treatment of patients with vertigo due to peripheral vestibular disorder. Although we think that our study will contribute to the clinicians and the literature, studies can be conducted to follow the longer-term results of the effects of exercise. durulacaktır
