Investigation of the effect of attachment-based support given during theperinatal period on prenatal attachment, early mother and baby bonding andmaternal attachment

INTRODUCTION AND AIM: This study was carried out to develop the Scale for Evaluation of Early Mother-Infant Bonding Indicators, to test its validity and reliability, and to determine the Effects of Attachment-Based Support Given in the Perinatal Period on Prenatal Attachment, Early Mother-Infant Bonding Indicators and Maternal Attachment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The first phase of this study is a methodological study, and the second phase is a randomized controlled study. The sample group of the study consisted of a total of 70 participants, 143 mothers in the first stage, 34 intervention groups and 36 control groups in the second stage. In the second stage of the study, mobile video-assisted training and skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding support were provided on the 0th postpartum day within the scope of AttachmentBased Support to the pregnants in the intervention group, while the pregnant women in the control group received the hospital's routine follow-up and care practices. RESULTS: In the scale development phase; as a result of the factor analysis applied, it was determined that the number of scale items was collected in 13 factors and as a result of the content validity, it was collected in 2 factors. The fit index values for the confirmatory factor analysis model were χ²/df: 1.890, RMSEA: 0.079, CFI: 0.929, SRMR: 0.060, and the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.882 for the whole scale, 0.851 for the Physical and Emotional Intimacy sub-dimension, and 0.803 for the Exploration and Effort sub-dimension detected. In the second stage of the study, the Prenatal Attachment, Early Mother-Infant Bonding Indicators and Maternal XII Attachment scale scores of the participants in the intervention group were higher than the control group and there was a significant difference (p=0.000). CONCLUSION: It has been determined that the developed scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool. Attachment-Based Support given to pregnant women during the perinatal period was found to be effective in increasing prenatal attachment, early mother-infant bonding indicators and maternal attachment.
