Abstract (EN)

The Ancient City of Perinthos, located in the Marmaraereğlisi district of Tekirdağ province and an important port city of Eastern Thrace, was the provincial capital of Thrace during the Roman period. Although the city center shows the characteristics of a Roman and Late Antique period city in the light of the existing ruins, there are also ruins belonging to earlier periods of the ancient city. In the city, whose settlement dates back to prehistoric times, there are Acropolis, lower city, necropolis areas and two large ports. Among the structures and building ruins that have survived from the ancient city to the present day, there are a number of examples of civil architecture such as a Basilica, a Theater, remains of fortifications, parts of rampart towers and hulls, and the Constantine/Metropolitan House of later periods. Dec. The current excavation works in the ancient city were started in 2021. A large number of archaeological cultural assets belonging to the ancient city are exhibited in various places such as Tekirdağ Museum, Marmaraereğlisi Open Air Museum (Municipal Park - Stone Garden), Marmaraereğlisi City Hall Garden and Istanbul Archaeological Museums. These archaeological artifacts, structures, building ruins, natural and cultural heritage items, which are intertwined with the district, are part of the life and daily life of the people of the district. This thesis aims to reveal the history of archaeological data in the Ancient City of Perinthos through the study of oral history, which is a sociological method. The approach referred to as "oral archaeology" to international literature and proposed as "oral archaeology" to domestic literature is a study in which oral data obtained by the method of sociological oral history study are used instead of the archaeological study system. This research aims to reveal these data and interpret them archaeologically. Keywords: Perinthos, Marmara Region, Eastern Thrakia, Oral History, Oral Archaeology
