Abstract (EN)

Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease caused by the destruction of the gingival connective tissue. If the immune response cannot be formed and sufficient amount of antibodies cannot be produced in the gingival connective tissue, tissue destruction continues increasingly and tooth loss occurs as a result of the processes during this process. Cytoskeleton; it plays a role in vital process such as intracellular shape, organelle distribution cell movement, macromolecule transport. The cytoskeleton is basically; ıt consists of microtubules, actin and intermediate filaments. Cell migration is a cellular process mediated by fibrous protein filaments called the cytoskeleton in the cytoplasm. Although actin plays a key role in the cytoskeleton, it plays an important role in cell proliferation intracellular organelle and vesicle transport, signal transduction, cell migration and maintaining the polarity of epithelial tissues. Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome proteins (WASP, N-WASP) are involved in cell nucleation of actin. N-WASP communicates with various signaling molecules by changing the actin cytoskeleton structure. In cell division, it interacts with the control protein 42 (Cdc42) and actin-associated protein 2/3 (Arp2/3) complex. There are many literature studies on the role of N-WASP in cell migration. In our study, the expression of N-WASP at the mRNA level was investigated using RT-PZR in 20 patients diagnosed with periodontitis and 20 control tissues from the same patient. A certain increase in the N-WASP gene was observed in patient and control tissues, but this increase was not statistically significant. In the analyzes performed with demographic data between the patient and control groups, bleeding score, plaque score and gingival recession were found to be higher in men than in women, depending on age. A gender-related change was observed in plaque formation, and it was observed that women were more prone to plaque formation than men.
