Dictionary of Pertev Naili Boratav: Analysis of folklore materials which is in Pertev Naili Boratav's works

When one talks about Folklore in Turkey the first person to remember is Pertev Naili Boratav. Boratav represented Turkey abroad with professorship chairs for his studies on the Turkish Folklore. Mustafa Pertev Naili Boratav was born on September the 2nd, and passed away on March the 16th, 1998. All of his studies that he carried out on the folkloric productions are precious. Because he is considered to be one of the founders of the Folklore in Turkey his books are used as teaching materials in the universities in Turkey. For this reason, his achievements and productions are worth examining. He touches upon each and every field of Folklore in his studies. Therefore, when his studies are examined it is possible to reach almost all of the words belonging to Folklore. In the present time, we do not use most of these words because they are usually used regionally. Therefore, we may need to learn their meanings. In this study, the studies of Pertev Naili Boaratav are examined very carefully, and a glossary of the words that Pertev Naili Boratav used and utilized with respect to Folklore and folkloric materials is produced. When the words are explained in the glossary, other reference sources are also utilized in addition to the explanations and definitions of Boratav. In addition to being a specialist glossary of Pertev Naili Boratav, the study is a glossary of Folkloric terms, at the same time. Because all the productions and achievements of the author are examined the study also involves the contents of his productions and achievements and some methods of his that are presently used.
