Abstract (EN)
Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate how Pes Planus (PP) affects foot pain, foot muscle strength, ankle proprioception, anthropometric measures of foot, balance and quality of life and determines the relationship between PP, BMI and hypermobility. Material and method: In our study, between the age 8-25 years old, 50 PP (25women and 25men) and 50 healthy (25women and 25men) individuals were evaluated. In our study pain with Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), weight according to BMI, strength by manual muscle test, proprioception with digital inclinometer, anthropometry with tape and caliper, static and dynamic balance (one foot standing, four step square, timed up and go) tests, hypermobility according to Beighton diagnostic criteria, the quality of life by SF-36 and KINDL tests was evaluated. Results: From the evaluation between the groups, women's left foot dorsiflexion and inversion (p<0.05) and left foot plantar flexion and inversion (p<0.05) in muscle strength, women's right ankle active and passive eversion (p<0.05) and men's left ankle passive inversion (p<0.05) in proprioception, most of women and men's right and left foot anthropometric measurement values (p<0.05), women and men's static balance evaluation on the right side, eyes open and closed, on one foot (p<0.05) and on the left side eyes closed on one foot (p<0.05), women and men's dinamic balance in four step square and timed up and go tests (p<0.05) and in the KINDL test emotional well-being, self-esteem, social relations, school and disease in the sub-titles (p<0.05) were found statistically significant differences. Conclusion: It has been seen that the PP, which is frequently seen in our society where the importance of foot health is not emphasized enough, causes many health problems with foot. If these problems are not avoided, health problems can take on a serious dimension. Key Words: Pain, anthropometry, balance, hypermobility, strength, pes planus, proprioception, BMI, quality of life.
