Peşteli Hisali Metali'ün-neza'ir (volume II) review-text

The subject of this study is the transcribed edition of the second volume of Metaliü?n-nezâ?ir, a work composed by Peşteli Hisali who was a poet of the seventeenth century and who composed a nazire journal. The second volume of this work includes the couplets between ğayn and ya.Metâli'ü'n-nezâ?ir, as the name suggests, is a collection of the first couplets of many poets. Hisali?s work is different from other works of this kind in the sense that the former includes only matlas (the first couplet of a ghazel or qasida) whereas the latter includes poems of nazire.In our study, nazire mecmuas and their place in Turkish literature has been explained. Nazire mecmuas whose anthologist are known are explained in this study. If the anthologist is not known, the mecmua itself is explained briefly. Hisali?s life, literary character and his works are also described. In addition to the transcribed text, an index has also been prepared.In Hisali?s work we come across the matlas of not only Anatolian poets but also the Balkans and the Central Asian poets. Interestingly, Hisali collected the poets who belonged to the Turkish literature across different regions. It can possibly be said that Metali?ü?n-nezair is a summary of Turkish literature between the thirteenth and seventeenth centuries. Thus, Hisali?s work can be regarded as a masterpiece.The first volume of Metaliu?n-nezâ?ir has been studied by Bilge Kaya as a Ph.D. dissertation. This study, which is based on the second volume of Metaliu?n-nezâ?ir, aims at making a contribution to the field of Turkish literature.
