Petr Ivanovich Perovski's report on Bukhara Khanate (Translationanalysis)

With its geopolitical location and being difficult to reach, mysterious land for foreigners, Turkestan is an important region where has attracted the attention of many states for centuries. Starting from the 16th century, the Russians occupied the khanates – as a result of the British research for the market here – tried to follow the current situation closely by sending ambassadors to the khanates and to strengthening their position. These ambassadors usually consist of merchants and diplomatic officials. Petr Ivanovich Demezon was one of the Russian diplomats by V.A.Perovski, the military governor of Orenburg at the time, to the Turkestan region. P.I.Perovski who visited the city disguised as a Muslim merchant, after returned to Orenburg presented these notes to the military governor as a report. The report was first translated from French to Russian. The main subject of this study which we translated from Russian is 19th to examine the political and commercial situation of Turkestan geography in the first half of the 19th century, to get to know P.I.Demezon, to understand his mission and to transfer his nonTurkish version of the report to Turkish today.
