Abstract (EN)
The thesis ?An Investıgatıon Into Peyami Safa?s Detectıve-AdventureWorks Under The Pseudonym Server Bedû In Terms Of Juvenıle Lıterature.? aims atfixing the usefulness of the signified works on the juvenile literature and teachingTurkısh collaboration.The books under the pen name Server Bedû, which first appeared in the1924-1940 period, were first published by Damla Publishers in 2003. This study isbased on the copies published in 2003.The detective and adventure works which Peyami Safa wrote under thepseudonym Server Bedû have been categorized by publishing house as ?CingözRecai(Recai the Wily), ?Çekirge Zehra?(Zehra the Grasshopper), ?Kartalhsan?(Ihsan the Eagle). According to this category, ?Recai the Wily? comprisesseven story books which include fourty seven stories, and nine novels four of whichare composed of two volumes. The series of Zehra the Grasshopper include a storybook which is composed of eight stories. And the series of Ihsan the Eagle includetwo story books each of which is composed of five stories. In the study which islimited to five detective-adventure novels and sixty five stories, the books have beenextensively studied in terms of plot, instructional content, language and expressionqualities making use of qualitative research methods. The study is the result ofdetailed reading, making card index and classification. Moreover, an assessment hasbeen made as to the compatibilitiy of the books with the general purposes of theTurkısh Instructıon Programme.Considering the aspect of the language, culture and personality progress inteaching Turkish, a subject which provides skills, it is evident that languageinstruction should be carried out with texts. The books Peyami Safa wrote under thepseudonym Server Bedû might arouse feelings of adventure, curiosity and excitementof people of nearly every age group, thus making them interested in reading.Peyami Safa?s books under his own name are deemed literary and so worthstudying; whereas, the books under the pen name Server Bedû are considered to bethose read as a pastime or for fun and therefore have not been taken seriously.However, Peyami Safa reflects his literary identity in these books as well, which ismanifest in the wide vocabulary and language he employs in them. The signifiedqualities can be said to prove that the books are not purely amusing but rather inspirea love of reading.At the end of the investigation, the suggestions have been made about usingthe dedective-adventure works under the pseudonym Server Bedû as materials on thejuvenile literature-teaching Turkısh collaboration.Key words: Server Bedû, Juvenile Literature, Turkish Language Education.
