Abstract (EN)

PID controllers have been in use immensely in industrial applications since mid 1970s. In this thesis, PID controllers' architecture, design and applications have been studied. Also, jacketed reactor tank heating system has been controlled with a PID control method on a PLC. First, basic control systems are introduced in this study. Then, different controllers? architectures and their effects to system characteristics are introduced. Next, transfer function of jacketed reactor tank heating system, which has been linearized, is controlled with a PID method. PID coefficients are determined with different PID tuning methods like Cohen - Coon and Ziegler - Nichols. The control system, which is initially analyzed on MATLAB environment, is transferred to PLC. PID controller has been programmed in the PLC and the obtained results are commented. The program coded in PLC provided on easy to use and industrially applicable PID software tool. Keywords: PLC, PID, Temperature Control, Jacketed Reactor
