Historical development of the piccolo flute and usage techniques and important solos in orchestra

This research was conducted to introduce the piccolo; the smallest member of the flute family and orchestra. There aren't as many sources about the piccolo flute as there are about the flute. In addition, there is no separate training for piccolo flute. In the first section, information about the flute is provided to aid understanding of the smallest flute, the piccolo. The history of the piccolo flute is discussed in the second chapter. The significance of producing a good sound on the piccolo is emphasized in this study. How to work in order to make good sound, as well as issues of technical importance, were investigated. Piccolo solos in orchestral works are included in the final section. Its significance in the orchestra has been discussed, and situations that may arise in the orchestra have been examined. In the study, sample tone and technical exercises were shown, and what should be studied by paying attention to it was thoroughly examined. Keywords: Piccolo flute, Solo, Octave, Tone, Intonation.
