Pîrî-Zâde Osmân Sâhib's Şerh-i Ebyât-ı Sâ'ib-i Tebrîzîwork named (review-text-indexual dictionary)

This study aims to provide information about the life and works of the poet and scribe Şeyhülislam Pîrî-zâde Osmân Sâhib. It aims to contribute to the textual commentary in classical Turkish literature by translating his work, which is the second comprehensive commentary on the Divan of Sâǿib-i Tebrîzî and to reveal the vocabulary of this commentary that exemplifies the 18th century prose language. The poems of the famous Iranian poet Sâǿib-i Tebrîzî, who wrote works influenced by the Sebk-i Hindî movement, which included riddle-like expressions, deeply hidden meanings, new dreams and metaphors, were taught in Ottoman madrasahs for a long time. The poems of Sâǿib-i Tebrîzî, whose language was Persian and whose style was Sebk-i Hindî, naturally needed commentary. In the 18th century, Turkish commentaries began to be written for Sâǿib-i Tebrîzî, who was at the peak of his fame in the Ottoman Empire. One of these commentaries is the work named "Şerh-i Ebyât-ı Sâǿib-i Tebrîzî", which was written by the 77th Ottoman Sheikhulislam Pîrî-zâde Osmân Sâhib, during his exile in Bursa between 1757 and 1761, for the first 8 ghazals rhyming with the letter alif in the Sâǿib-i Tebrîzî Divan. It has the characteristics of Sufi narration and artistic style, and has a sheuristic narration with its sejis spread over the entire commentary. In the first part of this study, detailed information about the life of Pîrî-zâde Osmân Sâhib and his scattered works are given. In the second part, the text of the commentary is examined by determining the proper names, verses, hadiths, Turkish, Persian and Arabic verse pieces, Arabic phrases, and similarities with the commentary of Ebû Bekir Nusret. In the third part, the commentary consisting of 67 pages is transcribed and transferred to Latin letters. In the fourth and last part, "Dictionary", the entire vocabulary of the commentary, including the phrases, is given meaning. As a result, it has been determined that the commentary titled "Şerh-i Ebyât-ı Sâǿib-i Tebrîzî", which we transcribed, differs from classical commentaries with its method and heavy language, that a simple language was used when translating only Persian couplets into Turkish, and that these sections were taken from Ebû Bekir Nusret‟s work "Şerh-i BaǾzı Gazeliyyât-ı Sâǿib", and that the commentator resorted to mystical interpretations in almost all of the commentary except for the makh couplets.
