Abstract (EN)
SUMMARY Keywords: Zn(II), adsorption, removal, polyamine polyurea polymer In this study, adsorption of Zn(II) ions from aqueous solutions was investigated using polyamine polyurea polymer modified with pyromellitic dianhydride (PMPPP). Adsorption studies were carried out to examine effects of parameters such as pH, contact time, amount of adsorbent, initial concentration of heavy metals and the temperature. The experimental data analyzed using Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were showed a higher compliance with the Langmuir isotherm representing the monolayer adsorption. Maximum adsorption capacity of PMPPP for Zn (II) ions was calculated to be 119.1 mg.g-1 according to Langmuir isotherm. Adsorption kinetics of Zn(II) ions on PMPPP were found to consistent with pseudo second order model. Thermodynamic calculations showed that the process is exothermic and occurs spontaneously.
