Pisidia Antiokhei of Aedilicus Hill Church

Pisidia Antiocheia was established in the Hellenistic Period; It is a city in the middle of Galatia, Phrygia and Pisidia Regions, which continued its existence during the Roman and Byzantine Periods. The city, which had the status of a military colony in the Hellenistic and Roman Periods, became the metropolis and religious center of the Pisidia Region with the acceleration of Christianity in Anatolia in the 3rd century AD. St. Christianity, which sprouted when Paul came to the city, reached its peak in the 6th century and continued its existence in the city after the collapse of the Aedilicus Hill Church. In the chapter part of the thesis, the development in the historical part of Pisidia Antiocheia, the architectural features of other churches known in the second Greek city, the architectural closed remains unearthed in the excavation carried out for the third time in the Aedilicus Hill Church, and the sections revealed together with the phases and parts of the church, and the Aedilicus Hill. The place of the church, which is the messenger of the church, in the Middle Byzantine Period was tried to be determined. Archaeological finds such as ceramic, marble, metal, glass and bone found in the fourth book and in the book of the book were identified and dated by analogy method. The Aedilicus Hill Church was built after the destruction process related to the Arab raids, with pieces collected from the destroyed buildings of the city. The church is one of the largest of the Greek closed cross planned churches with a 40.5 m length and 24.5 m width, together with its external face apse. Free standing postaments/pedestals legs in the rectangular narthex and nave divisions to the west; While the message fully reflects the characteristic Middle Byzantine period Greek closed cross plan with its round inside and three-cornered apses on the outside, it is typologically counted among the four-pillared churches. It has been documented by archaeological remains that the city collapsed economically after the Arab raids, weakened militarily, and that the majority of the population consisted of farmers engaged in agriculture. Despite the weakening economy, the fact that the city's people have built a monumental scale shows that they receive external support and do not lose their faith. The places unearthed in the excavations of the church, especially in the north and outside of the building, show that the church is not only a place of worship, but a daily related complex of the clergy and officials who work here. Fragments of a lintel, jamb, postament and architrave that were thought and worshiped were found on the church walls. The location of the hill dominating the north of the city and the presence of archaeological materials point to a temple that belongs to the 2nd and 4th centuries AD and to which god it is dedicated, has not yet been determined. Wall lines starting from the ground between the free standing pedestals/postaments legs and reaching a depth of 3 meters and the walls parallel to these walls are wider than the other walls of the church, indicating a basilical plan church showing the 6th century. The church, which has a plan that is described as a closed Greek cross with its current plan, 10-12. It was destroyed by active fire in the 19th century and heavily destroyed. However, the destruction started before the fire, floor coverings and some of the walls were already removed. There will be new excavations of the church written on a worship belonging to the Roman Imperial Period, which will be written in this period.
