Challanges and solutions in contrasting dynamics in both-hands piano education

This search has been carried out in order to enrich the musical expression and expression in the works used in piano education and to eliminate the difficulties in the applications of contrasting nuances in both hands in order to reveal a more effective performance. In the research, literature review and interview technique, one of the qualitative research data collection methods, and document analysis were used. The study group of the research consists of lecturers who attend piano lessons at Dokuz Eylul University Fine Arts Education Department of Music Education and Dokuz Eylul University State Conservatory. In the sense of document analysis, the Fugue, one of the works of the composer named Johann Sebastian Bach "The Well-Tempered Claviers: 48 Preludes and Fugues", was examined in terms of the performance of themes and nuances. The data obtained as a result of the semi structured interviews, made with the lecturers, were tabularized with the descriptive analysis method. As a result of this search, among the situations in which the students had difficulties in applying the nuances in line with the observations of the instructors; it was made firm that their musical playing skills and listening skills while playing themselves are insufficient and they have difficulties with opposite nuances on both hands. In this context; suggestions were made such as applying the playing styles of the works according to the characteristics of the period and the necessary touch studies for the nuances from the first step of the piano education, working by adding nuances to the scales with Hanon exercises and specifying the main themes with colors.
