Effectiveness and usage of reflective thinking at the piano education(Example of state conservatory vocal training main art department )

This research has been done for the purpose of marking the place of reflective thinking, how far reflective thinking skills being used and to determine those skills? level of effectiveness at learning the piano. Two methods has been used in this research one is descriptive and the other is experimental. At the descriptive part of the research a questionnaire has been applied to the students who are taking piano lessons at the Vocal Training Main Arts Department and to their instructors for he purpose of determining their thoughts and opinions related to reflective thinking; at the experimental part pretest-posttest control group model has been used.The population of the research is made up of 3. and 4. grade students of Vocal Training Main Arts Department and their piano lesson instructors. The research?s paradigms are made up of 3. and 4. grade students who are being educated in the mentioned discipline during the 2007-2008 school year and their piano lesson instructors. Main art disciplines with very long and very short program durations have been excluded while forming the paradigms. At the descriptive part of the research seventy students and thirty instructors, and at the experimental part of the research, ten students in the experiment group and ten in the control group, total twenty students took part.Empiric procedure which was applied to experimental group of the research has been monitored by three piano instructors. ?Anova? and ?t? test are used to present the difference, if there is any, in using reflective thinking skills between the experimental group and the control group. Frequency (f) and percent (%) have been used in analyzing the data which was collected via the questionnaire.As a result of data analysis, the findings obtained by the student and teacher reflective thinking skills in piano education they are determined to a large extent used. According to the findings obtained from students the `?best?? study or work before the exam to check the status of play flawlessly, `?at least?? the composer and the period of work in research. At The Teaching staff work in the `?best behavior?? to consider the students technical and musical development, `?at least??collective activity that students were doing courses. The experimental procedure applied in the experimental group's reflective thinking skills education as a result of an increase in the level of use and were determined to be learning piano.It came through that the education which focuses on reflective thinking in conservatory vocal training main art departments is generally effective on students learning piano. Related to that result, it has also been thought that this kind of application and researches can be useful on the other main art departments of bow instruments, wind instruments, composition, musicology.
