Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of classical period sonatina of CARL CZERNY OP.599 and JEAN-BAPTISTE DUVERNOY OP.176 METHODS which are widely used in piano teaching process. In the research, pretest-posttest experimental design was used and as the research group H.U. Ankara State Conservatory, 6th, 7th and 8th grade 10 students were included. Research group was chosen by random method and students? performances were recorded during the 6-week period. Via the scale prepared before the experiment, the pretest was applied to both groups and during this period students were made to play Op.36 and No:2 by M. Clementi and groups?s technical and musical talent level were determined. During the research, according to an expert?s remark, in the 4-week period beginning from the 2nd week students played C.Czerny?s three equivalent etudes (No: 30, 36 ve 68) and the second group played J.B. Duvernoy?s three equivalent etudes (No: 17, 18 ve 23) and then Clementi Sonatin (Op. 36, No: 2, Ist part) with the other etudes were played and repeatable evaluations done. And lastly, in order to analyze the point arrived the post test was applied and the data taken from different experts were analyzed. The statistical methods used in the research - since the taken data was not coming from a normal distrubution ? were Mann Whitney U test for groups and Wilcoxon test for 2 independent groups. While giving the results in tables, avarage, standard deviation and median value were also calculated. Significance level of the research is 0.05 and it was found out that both methods (Carl Czerny Op.599 and Jean-Baptiste Duvernoy Op.176) were effective and both technically and musically there was a positive raise.
