Abstract (EN)

Solid waste disposal with plasma gasification technology is evaluated in this thesis. The situation regarding disposal of waste in our country and the world is also investigated in this thesis. Research showed that; our country is behind European Union countries about waste disposal regulations and awareness, however efforts are being made to close the gap with European Union consistence regulations. In the first phase of the study, with a previously developed mathematical model, the content of the synthesis gas, which is the product of the gasification of sewage sludge sample with a known content, is calculated. Also, the plasma torch power, heat energy and chemical energy is calculated. Reactions formed in the boiler during the calculations are accepted as irreversible. To verify this assumption; formation enthalpies of five gasification reactions are calculated and reaction temperature ranges are presented graphically. In the second part of this study; sewage sludge which is decomposed with analytical model in the first part is modeled by a computer program and results are compared. Compounds such as CH4, NH3 and HCN in the synthesis gas content calculated with analytical model are neglected due to calculation ease, and these compounds? quantities are calculated with the computer program. Comparison of computer program and mathematical calculation results show consistency. In the last part of the thesis, the sewage sludge, whose content and heat capacity is calculated using the computer program is modeled five times with imported coal mixtures. These models enable us to identify the contents of the synthesis gases which are the products of gasification with various mixture amounts. This research shows us the content of the synthesis gas is directly related to the wastes? mass concentration. As a result, analytical and computer models for the solid waste disposal with plasma gasification technology are made and products? contents and heat capacities are compared. This thesis purpose is to guide and to create mathematical data for the researchers and industrial establishments, who are about the use this technology.
