Synthesis and characterization of PEDOT thin films produced by plasma technique and their solar cell applications

Abstract (EN)

In this study, PEDOT (Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)) thin films were synthesized by double discharge plasma technique. PEDOT thin films which were characterized, were synthesized upon ITO covered quartz glass as an active layer to produce organic solar cells. In experiments, EDOT monomer were evaporated without any solvent. Thin film coating on glass plates was obtained at room temperature, 0.8 mbar pressure and the applied volteges were 1.5 kV DC, and 19 kV pulsed one at 5 Hz repetation rate. To increase the conductivity iodine doping was applied.Synthesized thin films were characterized spectroscopically by FTIR, XPS, UV-vis and microscopically by SEM. The energy conversion efficiency of the produced organic solar cells obtained from I ? V curve via measuring the short circuit current (Isc), the open circuit current (Voc), the fill factor (FF), and maximum power point (MPP),.It?s found that the chemical structure of the synthesized thin films are differ from the one produced via conventional technique and also differ according to the location of the substrate inside of the reactor. Furthermore, it?s observed that the synthesized thin films having semi-conducting properties and the energy conversion efficiency of the organic solar cells are less than 1.0 %.
