Abstract (EN)

Environmental pollution caused by paint waste is a problem that threatens both natural ecosystems and human health. While paint waste pollutes water resources, soil and air, it also contains carcinogens, allergens and toxic substances. These waste dyes pose an environmental threat due to their high toxicity, stability and adverse effects on bio-living systems. Therefore, the textile industry should develop various methods for the disposal of dye waste. These methods include physical, chemical and biological treatment techniques. The purpose of these techniques is to reduce or eliminate the harmful effects of dyes and to make water reusable. The photocatalysis method is a promising technology for the elimination of this waste. In this method, photocatalyst materials are used to create reactive oxygen species using energy from sunlight or artificial light sources, and waste paints are photolytically decomposed. The photocatalysis method can also degrade biological species such as harmful fungi, viruses, and bacteria found in wastewater. Therefore, the photocatalysis method is an important tool for preventing environmental pollution and ensuring a sustainable future. In the first stage of this study, poly(1,5-diaminoanthraquinone) (PDAAQ) polymer was produced by chemical polymerization of 1,5-diaminoanthraquinone (DAAQ) monomer and magnetic cobalt oxide nanoparticles were produced by green synthesis method using sunflower seed extract for the first time and photocatalytic activities have been studied. In the second stage of the study, the magnetic Co3O4 nanoparticles produced were added to the medium during polymerization and the PDAAQ-Co3O4 magnetic polymer nanocomposite was synthesized and its photocatalytic activity was studied. Methylene blue dye was used as the model compound in photocatalytic activity thinning. FT-IR, XRD, SEM, SEM_EDX and UV-Vis Absorption spectroscopy methods were used for the characterization of all materials produced. FT-IR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy), XRD (X-Ray Diffraction), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), UV-Vis (Ultraviolet-Visible Spectroscopy) methods were used for the characterization of all materials produced Additionally, the use of the newly synthesized PDAAQ/Co3O4 nanocomposite as a photocatalyst for removing paints from wastewater released from textile dyeing units was also targeted. Within the scope of this thesis, new photocatalyst with high photocatalytic activity, magnetic properties and effective in natural sunlight have been synthesized. By increasing the photocatalytic activity, new photocatalysts have been produced that have the characteristics of reducing the time required for dye degradation and decolorization processes, eliminating additional separation procedures by being magnetic, enabling the process to be performed with natural sunlight due to the high photocatalytic activity in the visible light, and reducing the energy cost.
