Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is the synthesis and characterization of poly(methyl methacrylate) structures containing polyethylene glycol side groups which have the potential to be used in especially biomedical applications. These polymer structures were aimed as enzyme immobilization matrix, biocompatible polymeric surfaces and drug delivery systems. For this purpose, homo and copolymer brush structures having different lengths of polyethylene glycol groups were synthesized. Obtained homo and copolymers were analyzed by elemental analysis and FTIR techniques. Thermal properties of polymers were determined by TGA and DSC thermograms. The morphologic properties of synthesized polymers were determined by SEM analysis. In addition, the availability of synthesized polymers in biomedical applications such as drug delivery systems, antibacterial polymeric films and enzyme immobilization matrix were determined. As a result, the synthesized homo and copolymers can withstand a temperature of about 250°C and Tg values are range from about 114°C to 75°C. These polymers are suitable enzyme carrier matrix for the catalase enzyme. Their effective polar brush structure is also suitable for the transport of polar antibacterial molecules.
