Cardiac and metabolical risk factors in patients with polycyctic ovary syndrome an investigation of early endotelial dysfunction parameters

Abstract (EN)

AIM: PCOS is associated with low levels of chronic inflammation. The aim of this study is to determine the endothelial dysfunction parameters in PCOS patients and control group, which are ventricular strain, echocardiography findings, pericardial fat tissue, uric acid, CRP and sedimentation. MATERIAL AND METHODS: the study includes 49 women between ages 25-35, 33 with PCOS and 26 control group. LH, FSH, E2, PRL, TSH, DHEA-S, CRP, uric acid, sedimentation, triglycerides, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, VLDL tests were done. Flow mediated dilation (FMD), ejection fraction (EF), left ventricular end diastolic diameter, left ventricular end systolic diameter, left atrium, right ventricule, right atrium and interventricular septum width were measured. Left atrial strain, global left ventricular strain, E wave, A wave and pericardial fat tissue were calculated. RESULTS: Ejection fraction rate for PCOS, found to be lower than the control group (p:0.04). Ventricular and atrial measurements were found to be correlated with BMI, waist circumference, systolic and diastolic blood pressure. CONCLUSION: Cardiovascular system changes in PCOS patients might be obvius or subclinical. In order to propose routine cardiovascular system evaluation in PCOS patients, more evidence is needed.
