Abstract (EN)

Composite materials are recently preferred due to their properties that can be developed in many engineering applications, especially in the aerospace, space and automobile industries. Polymer-based composite materials are very important in the industries due to their many advantages such as high strength, light weight, corrosion and fatigue resistance. In this study, the woven carbon fiber (prepreg) reinforced epoxy resin-based composite material was reinforced with natural fiber linen yarn to form a supporting. In the study, only two layers of prepreg, placing woven linen between two layers of prepreg and with epoxy added between the woven linen reinforced prepreg were produced. Tensile and three point bending tests were applied to samples produced in three different combinations. The study revealed that the bending performance of the composite material increased by 302,4 % the nature-friendly, low-cost and low-density linen yarn as a reinforcement element. With the addition of epoxy on the prepreg during production, an increase was observed in the tensile strength of the composite material, while a decrease in bending performance was observed as a result of decreased ductility and increased brittleness. As a result of the study, it was concluded that linen yarn can be applied as a reinforcement element in composite materials because of increasing the performance of the material.
