COMPARING UNDER DYE CORROSION BEHAVIOURS OFPOLYPYRROLE COVERED STEELS WITH PHOSPHATED STEELSWHICH ARE HARMFUL FOR ENVIRONMENT(M.Sc. Thesis)Aysel KIZILKANGAZİ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYDecember 2006ABSTRACTIn this study, the electrodeposition of polypyrrole that have a goodenvironmental stability on mild steel and corrosion protectiveproperties of this coating was investigated in various depositionconditions. The polypyrrole coating was succesfully performed byusing cyclic voltametry. New methods have been proposed for theinvestigation of corrosion of the metal surface under the paint coating. The corrosion inhibition effect of polypyrrole was determined by usingdestructive and nondestructive electrochemical methods. Under epoxyand water based dyes, corrosion properties of polypyrrole coating werecompared with phosphated steel and steel without any processing. Results showed that under epoxy dye polypyrrole coating, that have arelatively high conductivity, improved the corrosion resistance of steel, making synergetic effect in chloride contained media.Science Code : 903.1.118Key Words : Conductive Polymer, Polypyrrole, Corrosion, SteelPage Number : 106Adviser : Ass.
